To obtain trademark protection and recognition in Comoros, your trademark must be registered through OAPI, the African Intellectual Property Organization. This is done via a single regional application that covers all OAPI member states, including Comoros. You can find more details on our page about OAPI trademark registration.
A trademark registered with the Organisation Africaine de la Propriété Intellectuelle OAPI grants protection in all seventeen (17) member countries, such as Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros and others.
OAPI is also a member state of the Madrid Protocol. This means that an international registration can be extended to Comoros via the Madrid System. We offer services for trademark filing through the Madrid System.
If you register a combined trademark (with both word and figurative elements) through OAPI, your exclusive right is limited to the exact configuration in which the mark has been filed and registered. If you wish to protect the word element and logo separately, it is advisable to file additional applications for each element.
