Senegal Trademark Renewal

Trademarks registered under OAPI are valid for 10 years from the filing date and can be renewed indefinitely in successive 10-year periods.

• Renewal window: Begins 12 months before expiration
• Grace period: 6 months after the expiration date
• After grace period: The trademark automatically lapses

• Simply signed Power of Attorney (no notarization or legalization required)
• Trademark registration number and applicant details
• Payment of renewal and (if applicable) late fees
• Renewal is published in the OAPI Trademark Bulletin

• Restoration is not allowed
• After lapse, the trademark may be re-registered by any third party
• No blocking period applies after lapse

• OAPI does not issue renewal reminders
• It is the responsibility of the trademark owner or their agent to monitor expiration dates

• Failing to pay the late fee during the grace period
