Trademark protection in Romania is governed by Law 84/1998 on Trademarks and Geographical Indications, amended by Law 112/2020. Trademark renewals are handled by the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks (OSIM). Romania is a member of both the Madrid Agreement and Madrid Protocol.
Trademarks in Romania are valid for 10 years from the application date and may be renewed indefinitely in additional 10-year increments.
