Qatar Trademark Renewal

Trademarks in Qatar are valid for 10 years from the application date and can be renewed indefinitely for additional 10-year periods.

• Standard renewal window: Within 12 months before expiration
• Grace period: 6 months after expiration
• After grace period: Trademark automatically lapses and cannot be restored

• Notarized and legalized Power of Attorney, authenticated at the Qatari Consulate
• If the POA is not in Arabic, it must be translated by a certified translator
• No proof of use is required
• Renewals are published in the Trademark Journal

• Restoration is not allowed after the grace period ends
• Once lapsed, a trademark must be re-registered
• However, re-registration by third parties is blocked for 3 years following cancellation publication

• The Ministry does not notify trademark owners of cancellations
• Cancellations are only published in the Trademark Gazette
