Pakistan Trademark Renewal

A trademark is valid for 10 years from the application date and can be renewed indefinitely in additional 10-year periods.

• Standard renewal window: 6 months before expiry
• Grace period: 6 months from the publication of non-payment notice in the Trade Marks Journal
• After grace period: The trademark is removed from the register, but may still be restored within another 6 months

• Notarised Power of Attorney
• Renewal fees and late fees (if applicable)
• No multi-class applications allowed: each class must be renewed separately

• If a trademark is removed, it may be restored within 6 months of removal
• Restoration is subject to the Registrar approval
• After this window, the mark can be re-registered by any third party

• IPO Pakistan sends notification letters before cancellation for non-payment
• All correspondence is sent to the registered agent or owner

Avoid:

• Missing both the grace period and restoration window
• Using a non-notarised Power of Attorney
• Failing to renew each class separately

The Registrar will publish a non-payment notice. You then have 6 months to renew with a late fee. After that, restoration is possible for 6 more months.
