Trademark rights in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) are governed by the Trade Marks Act No. 6 of 1981 and Trade Mark Regulations of 1989. Trademark administration is handled by the Registrar of Trade Marks, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade. While Eswatini is a signatory to ARIPO and the Madrid Protocol, these treaties have not yet been implemented into domestic law, so local registration is essential.
