In Lebanon, trademark rights belong to the person or company that first uses the mark, but even though registration is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended. Registering your trademark provides clear proof of ownership, helps prevent future disputes, and allows you to enforce your rights in case of infringement or misuse.
Trademark applications must be filed with the Trademark Section of the Ministry of Economy & Trade.
Use of the trademark is not required to file or obtain registration.
If you register a combined trademark (including both word and figurative elements), your exclusive rights apply only to the exact form filed. If you wish to use elements separately (for example, the word apart from the logo), it is advisable to register additional versions of the trademark.
If another party later tries to use or register a confusingly similar mark, you may take legal action to prevent this.
